The Wellness Council of Greater Colorado Valley is proud to announce that Dr. Michael Fuller will be presenting for the community, a lecture titled “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Related Conditions” at their monthly meeting on May 9 at noon at the Colorado County Courthouse.
This presentation is open to the public and is intended to increase awareness of this common, disabling, and often unrecognized condition.
Dr. Fuller is a psychiatrist who recently moved to Central Texas with his wife. He is P rofessor Emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He attended Medical School in Galveston, graduating from there in 1984.
He then served as a General Medical Officer in the United States Air Force and returned to UTMB to complete his training in Psychiatry and complete an additional year of Fellowship in Medical Psychiatry.
Dr. Fuller specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of complex psychiatric conditions in the medically ill. In addition, local courts and attorneys often requested that he evaluate defendants in criminal matters.
Dr. Fuller works part time for Bluebonnet Trails Community Services in La Grange and he treats individuals there who suffer from a variety of conditions such as PTSD, Depression, Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia. He is currently the only local psychiatrist seeing individuals face to face.
Dr. Fuller enjoys art and mechanics in addition to medicine. He and his wife are often found in their studio creating ceramic sculptural works or lapidary and silver jewelry fabrication. They have three grown children and two grandsons that live in the region.
