“For dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19) Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. St. Anthony will have Mass and Distribution of Ashes at 8:15 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m. This is typically a day of fasting and abstaining from meat. Lent is a solemn observance that covers the 40 days, or approximately six weeks, prior to Easter Sunday, in which we reflect on the sacrifice and love Jesus showed us by dying on the cross to save us from our sins. The church will also pray the Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent immediately following the 5:30 p.m. Mass.
The third graders will celebrate their classroom mass tomorrow at 10:15 a.m. in the church, and the eighth grade would like to invite you to join them as they lead the school in the celebration of the Eucharist this Friday at 8:15 a.m.
The SAS Track Team will participate in the Sacred Heart Track Meet in Hallettsville next Monday, Feb. 27.
