Wildcats spilt final two games

The Weimar Wildcats played their final two games of the 2024 season, and they walked away with a loss and a win in those games.

They Wildcats started their week hosting Shiner then ended their week by traveling to Bloomington for their final game.

Vs. Shiner, L, 7-2

The Wildcats started their week fighting for their playoff lives, as a loss in either of these games would result in them being eliminated.

They had a noticeable sense of urgency to start the game and were rewarded by being able to open the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. The Wildcats were feeling good early in the game and carried that swagger into the third and fourth inning.

Up by one run the Wildcats were ready to make a defensive stand in the top of the fifth. Unfortunately, Shiner’s offense found their rhythm.

Shiner posted a five-run inning in the top of the fifth and the Wildcats were never able to find their footing after that. Shiner added one run in the sixth and seventh inning while the Wildcats scored once more in the bottom of the seventh to cut into the lead, but Shiner was able to close out the game shortly after.

The Wildcats did not dwell on the loss too much though because they traveled to Bloomington for their last game of the season, and they put on a show.

@ Bloomington, W, 19-0 After allowing things to get out of hand against Shiner the Wildcats’ offense made sure they capitalized on early opportunities better.

The Wildcats ended the game with 11 hits and 19 runs scored on offense. It only took them three innings to get their sixth district win of the season.

Wyatt Lacina hit two doubles in Friday’s game, he was joined by Weston Pavlik who recorded one double in the game. Nicholas Vasquez also chipped in on offense recording the only triple in the game.

Huxton Kloesel was on the mound for the Wildcats where he threw a no-hitter and struck out eight batters while doing so.

The Wildcats ended the season with a massive win, but it also gives them a little bit more to build off heading into next season.
