TOM STRICKLAND

I am 75 years old and was a teacher in the school district for 41 years, so I have the advantage of knowing how the school works. I’ve been taking care of the baseball field for the veterans for 48 years.

I started as an athletic coach, and then became a successful UIL academic coach. I’ve seen both sides of Weimar’s extracurricular opportunities. With my grandsons graduating from Weimar and my daughter spending her first several years of school with Weimar, I’ve seen it all.

I’m running because I’ve been so involved with the community and the school district, so it feels like the right thing to do to allow the district to take advantage of my experience to benefit the teachers and the students.

With 41 years of experience, I’ve had probably 1000s of students pass through my classroom. Parents, former students and teachers in the district know how seriously I take education. I’d like to carry on as a school board member, using my experience and dedication to the community to help out and give support where I can.
