I am 39 years old, and I am the President of Seybro Door and Weatherstrip Co. Inc. I have been employed at Seybro for almost 17 years. I manage purchasing, sales, product production, and finances at our company. I have extended experience in creating and maintaining budgets, employee management, diplomacy, and customer service. I also understand the necessity of teamwork to set and achieve goals. I am the incumbent School Board candidate for Place 4.
I am running for re-election to the Weimar ISD School Board to help make Weimar the best 2A school in the state of Texas. I am passionate about providing students with a well-rounded education. I believe it is the duty of the school along with parents and guardians to get students ready for life after school. This includes students entering college, technical school, the workforce, or the armed forces.
I want to add access to an online Driver’s Education course for our students, because I believe it is essential to have a driver’s license in order to access educational and career opportunities. I would also like to add more vocational courses to the High School curriculum and add more elective courses to the Junior High curriculum. I want to ensure all spending is responsible and student- centered.
I have six years of school board experience, and I have two children attending Weimar ISD. I serve on the Weimar Elementary and Junior High Parent Teacher Organizations and I am a volunteer youth soccer, baseball, and basketball coach.
Since I was elected in 2018, our combined property tax rate has dropped from $1.26 to $.8792, and we have adopted a balanced budget every year.
In 2022, we were an “A” rated district in state academic accountability testing and have had tremendous success in extracurricular activities.
I am committed to working with my fellow board members and our new superintendent to set and achieve goals. I am devoted to promoting a learning environment where all students, administrators, faculty, and staff are safe, valued, and able to thrive. I am an advocate of continuing to provide mental health awareness and services for our students.
I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve our school, and I hope to earn your vote in the election on May 4, 2024.
