Incumbent Mayor Milton Koller has been leading the city’s government since 2012 when he was first sworn in to office, taking over for longtime Mayor Bennie Kosler.
In Koller’s tenure as mayor, he has overseen the functions of Weimar during periods of turnover in city departments as well as looked to improve the daily lives of Weimar residents.
As the city’s leader during an era of enhanced technology and connectivity and during the pandemic, Koller has compiled years of experience in the role he hopes to get re-elected to. The many challenges brought along by an unprecedented period in the nation’s history have given Koller new experiences to use in future terms as mayor, should he be elected.
He has gained experience as a different kind of leader as director and owner of Texstar volleyball, a program that features several collegiate athletes as alums.
Some challenges specific to Weimar have involved the collaboration, and sometimes mediation, of departments and collaborations during city council meetings.
One of Koller’s biggest values throughout his tenure has been transparency, placing added emphasis during council meetings to make sure details in reports are stated publicly during the open portion of council sessions.
Koller is also an advocate of the community, signing several proclamations to recognize various groups within the county and city limits. As a member of community groups such as the Rotary Club, Koller has placed an emphasis on community service as well.
Incumbent Koller has run virtually unopposed in prior elections since 2012.
