My name is Roman Footnick, and I’m running in the CISD board election.
I’m 49 years old. Born in Houston and raised by my mom, who worked for FBISD for over 40 years initially as a teacher and eventually becoming an administrator. Being a single mother and on a teacher’s salary she provided a humble yet stable home.
From an early age I took on odd jobs and got my first real job at 15. I was fortunate at that time to have great mentors and teachers who taught me the skills of physical training, combat, and martial arts, where I also competed.
That led me to start my own business training others including professional athletes, police, and military.
I eventually attended graduate school and the Academy of Oriental Medicine, where I became licensed in Acupuncture and Herbal medicine.
For the last 5 years I have built an additional successful business in Executive coaching and leadership, where I help CEO’s define and guide their employees in the company’s goals.
My moral compass and spiritual strength has come as a result of living a religious life as a Jew and regular study in the Torah. I am observant in my faith, and instruct others in the Torah, (a.k.a. “The Five Books of Moses” - the first part of what is commonly called “Old Testament”).
I am running for school board because I believe I can make an impact regarding needs not being met for the students, parents, teachers, and community. As I do in my executive coaching business, I believe I can make a positive contribution to our school system, specifically regarding help toward clarifying, defining, and executing the mission of the school system.
To do that effectively, there must be open and honest communication between the citizens and the school administration (by way of the board). That is the best way to ensure that the schools and parents have a shared vision. I want to help improve that aspect of our district. A better team relationship needs to be nurtured.
If you vote for me; I will do my best to effectively communicate with our citizens regarding board decisions as well as encourage the board to open up lines of communication with citizens. I believe you all would like to know that your ideologies are known to the board and school administration and that their agenda aligns with your desires for our students. When issues arise, I’ll to work to bridge the gap between the parties, so that we can work effectively together as a team.
