Raiders losing streak grows to 12

The Rice Raiders lost both district games against Industrial and Columbus, and their losing streak is now 12 games.

The Raiders are still going through some growing pains and learning a lot of tough lessons this season so while 12 is a ugly number while looking at a losing streak they Raiders are still making steps in the right direction.

Vs. Industrial, L, 10-1 The Raiders started their week off on home field and things got off to a rocky start for the Raiders.

The game started out scoreless for the first two innings. Industrial opened the scoring in the third inning, scoring two runs. The Raiders responded well in the bottom of the third where they scored their only run of the game.

The fourth inning saw the wheels fall off for the Raiders defensively. They allowed four runs in the fourth and three more runs in the fifth to make the score 9-1. Industrial scored once more in the sixth to bring the score to 10-1 and the Raiders just could not solve Industrial’s defense.

The game got out of hand after a good start for the Raiders, but that, again, is all part of the learning process. The Raiders kept their heads high, though, and traveled to Columbus to try to hand the Cardinals their second district loss of the year.

The Cardinals also did most of their damage in the third and fourth innings like Industrial did. The Raiders gave up four runs in the third and six runs in the fourth.

While the defense struggled in the game, the offense had an even tougher time. The Raiders offense recorded zero hits in the game, putting all the pressure on defense to provide a spark, but the Cardinals were all over them and never gave them a chance
