Members of the Westside Narcotics Task Force (HIDTA) arrested a Louise High School coach and former coach with Columbus, Weimar and Rice Consolidated school districts on trafficking narcotics in the Colorado County area.
Officers arrested Steven Marshall, 52, at his residence located in the 400 block of Heights Ave. in El Campo. Marshall was charged with manufacture and/or delivery of a controlled substance (four grams to 200 grams).
Marshall is currently listed as a teacher/coach with Louise ISD but had previous stops at Columbus High School, Weimer High School and last year with Rice Consolidated.
“He was in Weimar before me. I know him but he never worked for me,” said Weimar Athletic Director Wade Griffin.
HIDTA officers executed the arrested warrant April 16 at 6 p.m. and suspected crystal methamphetamine was seized during the investigation. Marshall was arrested and transported to the Colorado County Jail without incident.
The investigation began when task force officers received information that an area high school coach identified as Marshall was trafficking narcotics in the Colorado County area. During the investigation Task Force Officer’s learned that Marshall was employed as a coach at the Louise ISD High School.
The investigation is ongoing with the possibility of more charges being filed. The Colorado County Attorney’s Office and the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office were part of the investigation.
The Westside Narcotics Task Force covers four counties and is comprised of investigators from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Bellville PD, Sealy PD, Hempstead PD, Waller County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, and the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
