Wildcats win huge district game

Wildcats win huge district game

The Weimar Wildcats traveled to Louise on Friday, April 12, and picked up a huge district win.

With the end of the regular season drawing near the Wildcats know that every game is a must win for them moving forward.

Being only a game or two back from the final playoff spot the Wildcats strolled into Lousie looking to make a statement and came out the game hot. They started the game scoring four runs in the first inning and then followed it up with two more runs in the second.

The Wildcats had many players step up in this game to get the win and once they had a 6-0 lead by the third inning, they were comfortably in the driver’s seat. Louise pushed back scoring three runs in the third inning but that was all the offense they had Friday night.

The Wildcats defense did not let them get any more offensive production for the rest of the night and offensively they stayed on course. The offense scored one more run in the fifth then scored four more in the seventh to close out the game and keep the Wildcats playoff hopes alive.

Defensively the Wildcats pitching controlled the pace of play as Huxton Kloesel had a fantastic game on the bump. Kloesel allowed three runs on five hits and walked three batters all while striking out 13 batters.

Kloesel threw 116 pitches and 73 of them were strikes (63% strikes) on his way to recording 13 strikeouts. When Lousie was able to make contact with one of Kloesel’s pitches the defense behind him made the play secured the out and they went back to pouring on runs.

Ashton Wahrenberger and Weston Pavlik each recorded a double in the contest giving the Wildcats a ton of momentum. Having two players hit multiple base hits is always big and Brandon Lucky took it a step further by hitting a triple to give the Wildcats even more momentum.

The Wildcats finished the game off with a score of 11-3 and now look ahead in their schedule and are looking to pick up a couple more crucial wins to punch their ticket to the playoffs.
