WEIMA R — The Schulenburg/Weimar area of Parents as Teachers’ annual fundraiser was a success.

168 people came out to attend the fundraiser, Hats Off to PAT, Feb. 4 at Swiss Alp Hall and Chalet. PAT thanked the community for supporting its mission for 21 years.

Mikeskas Bar-B-Q provided a prime rib and chicken dinner and Michael Mach played music for the event. There was a live auction with five items, games, and an online auction that took place Feb. 1-5.

PAT thanked donors and bidders for helping them raise $62,545. The funds will be used by PAT to continue supporting parents through the early years of their child’s life. According to a release, home visits, screenings, group connections and programs such as the Schulenburg and Weimar Learn and Playrooms are possible because of the annual fundraiser.

PAT also thanked its core fundraising committee members: Lucy Stanzel, Ginger Bosl, Amy Elstner, Pam Schoeneberg, Tanya and Joe Schindler, Cheryl Pekar, Karen Hoskins, Phyllis Venghaus, Melinda Barneycastle, Melanie Ramirez, Nettie Cernosek and Zulma Hay as well as their volunteers for their hard work in making the fundraiser possible.

PAT’s mission is to provide the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life. As their child’s first and most important teacher, parents play a crucial role in supporting school readiness.
