Statewide effort keeps local towns beautiful
The county did its part to “Keep Texas Beautiful” after a successful iteration of the yearly “Trash Off Day” where communities join to dispose of large trash and clean their local area.
Each town in Colorado County participated in the statewide campaign as Eagle Lake, Columbus and Weimar all had some sort of participation from their respective residents.
In Eagle Lake, residents were provided trash pickers with bags as they walked around local parks cleaning and disposing of trash.
Weimar had several individual groups celebrate the day by selecting certain areas around town to clean as many people contributed to the total cleaning effort.
The maintenance yard in Columbus accepted large trash items each day from April 3 to April 6 as residents helped dispose of clutter and trash from their individual homes. The city also provided a Shred-it event to get rid of sensitive or unwanted documents, and it will also provide a tree limb pickup service for those who call and request it from city hall.
