The John Everett Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Robert Rankin Chapter #62, Sons of the American Revolution presented Herb & Peggy Fish, located at 1353 CR 151, Columbus, Texas, with the American Flag display certificates for April 2024.
Herb is a member of both the Vietnam Veterans of America and the American Legion in Columbus, Texas.
He is a true flag advocate and actively engages in various activities showing his support. For example, he assists others with the retiring of the old flags that are brought to the Veteran Memorial Center in Columbus, Texas.
Herb attends parades in various locations including Columbus, Weimar, and even as far as Round Rock for their Fourth of July Parade. These are only a few of the many parades in which Herb participates.
He provides a 16 ft trailer that has flag holders for the American Flag, Texas Flag, Disabled Veterans Flag, and Flags for all the Armed Services. This trailer has chairs for the comfort of the Veterans on long parade rides.
He also assists with putting American Flags on Veteran’s grave sites for Memorial Day each year.
Herb actively takes part in various events organized by the American Legion, including National Poppy Day.
During this event, Poppies are sold to raise funds for Veterans, active duty service members, and their families. The American Legion Poppy Program is the oldest and most widely recognized Auxiliary program.
Additionally, Herb actively participates in the Wreaths Across America program that provides extensive support to Veterans through various means.
