The Weimar Ladycats took on Shiner and Bloomington on Tuesday, March 26, and Thursday, March 28, and came up short in one of those games.
The Ladycats traveled to Shiner to take on the Lady Comanches and wanted to make in impact on the district game by walking away with a win.
The game started out a little rocky for the Ladycats being down 3-1 after the first inning. They never panicked though and continued to play they always have and had success with.
They were calm and utilized their defense and pitching to their advantage. Taylor Smith was back on the mound for the Ladycats and she recorded two hits and three runs in six innings while striking out six batter’s.
The Ladycats defense hardly let anything past them in the contest and shut out Shiner after the first inning. Unfortunately, they just could not find anything on the offensive side of things.
They were able to cut Shiner’s lead to only one run in the second inning but were unable to complete the rally and came up just short against Shiner. Never known for being a team that dwells on past losses, the Ladycats quickly put that game in the rear view and welcomed Bloomington to their home field on Thursday.
Like the boy’s game, this game also took three innings to decide a winner and the Ladycats found themselves celebrating after a short game. Faith Cantwell, Hannah Fisbeck, Madison Luckey and Taylor Smith all recorded doubles in the victory.
Smith turned in another stellar performance on the mound striking out eight batters and having no hits or walks recorded against her.
The Ladycats ended up winning the game 15-0 for their efforts and will be looking to continue to chug through their district schedule with their next game coming on the road against Schulenburg.
