Council discuss food truck ordinances, new signage

EAGLE LAKE – The City Council met in regular session on Feb. 14.

EAGLE LAKE — The City Council met in regular session on Feb. 14.

City Manager Charles “Tink” Jackson discussed food truck ordinances, which he said they are being referred to now as mobile food vendors or trucks. He referenced how Monster Bites in the city is an example of a food truck. He said the taco stands in the city do not fit the ordinance. The city said there are currently about six or seven taco trucks in the area. Jackson said the food trucks should not be stationery, but be moveable.

One of the ways Jackson suggests the council can enforce the ordinance is by setting a policy on what non-brick-andmortar food establishments will be allowed in the city and to do the same with food trucks in the event one of the current ones leave the city, they can only come back if they align with the ordinance.

The council will discuss more in the next meeting.

Other agenda items discussed include the extension of solid waste contract with Green for Life through 2028. The motion passed to approve the extension.

The city is also still making revisions to its junked vehicle ordinance and will discuss more in the next meeting.
