The Weimar Ladycats took on Schulenburg and Bloomington this past week and got things back on track after a rocky start to the season.
The Ladycats dominated their last two district games and only allowed one run scored against them during those games.
Vs. Schulenburg, 13-1, W
The Ladycats wasted no time handling business against their district rivals.
They started off a little slow right out of the gate but Taylor Smith and the sound Ladycats defense helped them settle into the game nicely. Smith recorded nine strike outs against Schulenburg but when they did make contact with the ball the Ladycats’ defense were all over it and were able to make a play.
This loosened up the offense to play at their absolute best and take some chance while in the batter’s box. Smith and Natalie Ohnheiser led the charge offensively recording three RBIs each while Hannah Fisbeck came up big in the box recording two hits. The Ladycats took this game by storm and showed no signs of slowing down.
They looked ahead to their next game against Bloomington and knew they would have to play like they did against Schulenburg if they wanted to leave with a win.
@ Bloomington, 17-0, W
The Ladycats came back to the diamond still riding high from beating Schulenburg and they kept building on that momentum.
Again, receiving great pitching and defense the Ladycats offense ran away with this game. They scored at will and slammed the door shut on the defensive end to secure their second district win of the season.
The Ladycats are starting to string together some wins after a tough start to the season and will look to build on last week’s victories when they travel to Gando for their next district game on Tuesday, March 12.
