The Weimar Wildcats hosted a tournament at their home field this past weekend and things did not go too well for the gracious host.

The Wildcats struggled to get their offense going in all three games they played, and it cost them big time.

The Wildcats are still searching for their identity in the early phase of the season. They may have lost all three games, but they brought in stout competition.

It provided the Wildcats with a measuring stick to see where they are in their development and where they need to keep improving before getting into the district schedule. They started off playing against Burton, and Burton is one of those schools that is always competitive.

The Wildcats gave them a game, though, and never backed down from a talented Burton team. The Wildcats showed that even though they are still navigating the treacherous waters of their season, they are coming to play.

The game ended with the Wildcats falling short by a score of 5-4 but they were still determined to make some noise at their home tournament and set their sights on Lexington.

Playing in the night slot, the Wildcats played Lexington right after they had just finished a game in the tournament. Catching a team on the back half of a back-toback is always an opportunity to catch a team on their heels to start the game.

Unfortunately, this is where the offensive struggles really showed for the Wildcats. They could not get anything going in game two of the tournament for them and Lexington started to apply pressure.

Lexington jumped out to a 6-1 lead late and the Wildcats could not climb back up that steep of a hill before the game ended with a score of 7-3.

Game three saw the Wildcats take on Black and Gold 47s who is a travel baseball program so this was a real test for the Wildcats. The 47s much like Lexington caused fits for the Wildcats offense and they again could not find a rhythm.

The 47s closed out the game 7-4 to hand the Wildcats their third loss of the tournament. The Wildcats have their work cut out for them in the coming games because they are district games.

They will travel to Ganado for their next game where they will be itching to get back in the win column.
