On Jan 1st Officer Petrosky initiated a traffic stop in the 100 block of E. Main St. It was found that the driver had an invalid license with previous convictions for the same offense as well as an open alcoholic beverage container. Tammy Jo Dabney, 48, of Eagle Lake was taken into custody and transported to the Colorado County Jail by Officer Byars.

Officer Trench and Officer Arrison responded to a civil dispute on Jan 5th in the 300 block of W. Waverly. Advice was given in reference to child custody.

On Jan 5th Officer Arrison and Officer Trench conducted a follow up investigation in the 1300 block of Murphy St. During the investigation it was found that a fugitive was being concealed inside a closet by another individual. Elizabeth Ferrel, 30, of Eagle Lake was arrested on outstanding warrants for forgery of a financial instrument and failing to identify as a fugitive by giving false information. Carlos Paschall, 31, of Eagle Lake was also arrested for hindering apprehension. Both subjects were provided a courtesy transport to the Colorado County Jail.

On Jan 7th Officer Blackburn, Officer Petrosky, and Chief Abbott responded to an unattended death in the 1200 block of Raezer St. The case remains under investigation pending forensic lab results.

On Jan 11th Officer Arrison initiated a traffic stop on E. Main St and FM 3013. After making contact with the driver it was found that she was driving with an invalid drivers license with previous convictions along with an unusable amount of marijuana. Hailey Alvarado, 22, of Austin was taken into custody and transported to the Colorado County Jail.

On Jan 12th Officer Blackburn was dispatched to a theft in the 100 block of W. Waverly. After conducting an investigation, a suspect was identified, and the case remains active.

On Jan 14th Officer Arrison was dispatched to an assault that occurred in the 800 block of State St. The victim was transported by Colorado County EMS for treatment for injuries. After further investigation warrants were obtained for the suspects. Subsequently, Juan Luis Pena-Lopez, 28, of Eagle Lake, Jose Flavio Martinez-Reyes, 20 of Eagle Lake, and Victor Uribe-Reyes, 22, of Eagle Lake were arrested for outstanding warrants. They were transported to the Colorado County Jail at a later date by Officer Niklas.

On Jan 15th Officer Trench initiated a traffic stop in the 400 block of E. Davitt. The driver was found to be driving with an invalid license and no insurance. After further investigation Jaylon Pettus, 35, of Garwood was arrested for driving with an invalid license with previous convictions. The passenger, Jalleel Pettus, 29, of Garwood was found to be in possession of marijuana and cocaine was also arrested. They were both given a courtesy transport to the Colorado County Jail.

On Jan 17th Officer Blackburn was dispatched to a juvenile problem in the 1600 block of E. Main St. Prior to his arrival a juvenile from the Texas Challenge Academy had commandeered a vehicle in the parking lot and proceeded to hit two victims. The vehicle then came to a stop in the 400 block of FM 3013 where the juvenile was detained. The victims were transported for treatment. The case has been referred to Juvenile Probation for prosecution.

On Jan 20th Chief Abbott was notified by Hallettsville Police Department Chief Schlauch of a pursuit on US90A headed toward Eagle Lake that started west of Hallettsville. The driver was reported to be travelling over 100 mph swerving into oncoming traffic. When the vehicle entered the city limits of Eagle Lake it was being pursued by ELPD (Chief Abbott, Officer Gonzales, and Officer Niklas), Hallettsville P.D., CCSO, DPS, TPWD, and the Lavaca County S. O. During the pursuit the suspect attempted to hit at least one patrol unit. The pursuit ended on FM 3013 near Hunt Rd. where the vehicle collided into a building. Allen Zavala, 17, of Rosharon was taken into custody by Hallettsville P.D. for evading arrest and other possible charges. The ELPD obtained warrants for evading arrest with a motor vehicle and attempted aggravated assault on a public servant.

On Jan 23rd Officer Trench conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of E. Main St. for a vehicle having an expired paper tag. After further investigation the vehicle had been reported stolen to the San Antonio Police Department. Anthony Garcia, 39, of San Antonio was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana. The vehicle was recovered and Mr. Garcia was transported to the Colorado County Jail.

On Jan 27th Officer Arrison initiated a traffic stop in the 700 block of E. Main St. Upon contacting the driver an open alcoholic beverage was observed. After further investigation Alexandra Quintana, 24, of Sealy was arrested for driving while intoxicated with an open alcoholic beverage container.

On Jan 28th Officer Arrison conducted a traffic in the 100 block of S. Austin and the vehicle came to stop on the side of the road facing oncoming traffic. While making contact with the driver an open alcoholic beverage container was observed in the vehicle. Subsequently, Rickey Tolliver, 59, of Eagle Lake was arrested for driving while intoxicated with an open alcoholic beverage container.

The Eagle Lake Police Department responded to over 120 calls for service in October as well as conducting numerous traffic stops.
