HOUSTON — Several members of the Weimar FFA chapter competed in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, representing Weimar during the animal showcase on March 7.
Hunter Simon represented Weimar FFA by exhibiting a pen of broilers. Out of 295 pens of cockerels Simon placed 23rd, earning a spot in the HLSR Poultry Auction. Simon’s broilers were purchased at the Poultry Auction by Alan and Trish Cegielski of Weimar.
Bralen Heger, a junior Weimar FFA member, exhibited his registered Charolais heifer. Heger won his heifer through the HLSR Calf Scramble Program at the 2023 Show. Heger placed 3rd in his class in the Junior Charolais Show and 6th in his class in the Continental Scramble Show.
Logan Kainer, Kaden Zinnante, and Addison Zinnante represented Weimar FFA at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Commercial Steer Contest. This event involves a pen of 3 steers, an interview, college-level animal science test, meats identification and test, math practicum, and a record book. All three students had steers grading choice making them eligible for the auction. Additionally, Logan Kainer was the Rookie of the Year.
Senior Weimar FFA member, Rayleigh Huette, exhibited a steer during the 2024 Rodeo Austin Steer Show, which took place on March 7 through March 8.
