The Schulenburg Sausage Festival, a day of fun and festivities, is to be held this year on April 6 in downtown Schulenburg.

For those eager to put in a few extra steps that morning and possibly earn a few extra samples of sausage or kraut, the first event of the day is a 5K that will be hosted by the Alliance for College & Career Student Success.

ACCSS is a collaboration between Blinn College and Schulenburg, Weimar, Flatonia, Columbus and Fayetteville ISD’s. The partnership works to provide academic and career resources, guidance, and supports necessary for students to obtain academic and CTE dual credits or workforce career credentials.

Proceeds raised through registration and sponsorships will help continue ACCSS programming, supporting our rural students as they pursue their post-secondary goals. Runners and walkers who wish to sign up may visit https://sausagefest5k.itsyourrace.com/event.aspx?id=16164.

To ensure that they receive a shirt in their desired size, participants are encouraged to sign up by March 18.

Donations can also be made by individuals, philanthropies, or businesses who are interested in supporting students in their community at the ACCSS website https://myaccss.net/donations/.

This year the run will be chip timed and medals will be distributed to the top 3 males and females in 8 different age categories. Though pre-registration is preferred, runners may sign up the morning of between 7:30-8:30 a.m. and the run will begin at 9 a.m.

For more information, please contact Susie Shank, ACCSS Director, at 979-743-5239, find their website at https://www.schulenburgsausagefest.com/ or follow their program activities on their Facebook page by searching ACCSS5.
