The Colorado County Wildlife Management Association’s Banquet is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, March 16 at the Columbus Hall in Columbus.

There is no cost to attend.

Meal tickets will be available for purchase for a barbecue meal at 6:00 p.m. with free soft drinks and beer while it lasts. This year’s main speaker is Blaise Korzekwa, TPWD Whitetail Deer Program Leader on the topic of “Does culling actually improve antler quality?”

Aaron Summrall will provide an introduction to the Pig Brig Trapping System for feral hog control.

There will be card raffles, bucket raffles, a buck scoring contest and of course the drawing for the big raffle. Vendors will also be present with merchandise for purchase. The 2023 Scholarship and 2023 Whitetail Contest winners will be recognized at the event too.

Bring WMA harvested buck mounts to be displayed and become eligible to win one of five $50 gift certificates. All bucks harvested on Colorado county W.M.A. property in 2023 and from past years are encouraged and welcomed to be enjoyed by all. Specimens must be able to be hung for display. Also, those with game cams and regular photos can bring their submissions for the Photo Contest.

Wildlife Management Association members and the general public are encouraged to attend this family friendly event. Proceeds from the event go to help fund future scholarships.

To date, CCWMA has handed out over $145,000 in scholarships to local and/or CCWMA affiliated graduating seniors.

Those interested in having a vendor booth can contact Ronnie Stock at 979-732-1004.
