The Weimar Wildcats competed in a golf tournament at their home course and turned in some strong numbers.
The Wildcats had one of their players place third overall individually while his teammates were not too far behind.
Weston Pavlik shot an 80 at Weimar Golf Course during the tournament to capture third place. Pavlik’s ability to string straight, accurate and powerful shots was a difference maker.
It was the biggest factor in him shooting only eight over par at a course that as many challenges. Weimar golf courses have a lot of hazards that are a little unnoticeable from the tee box.
There’s water, ditches, trees, dirt patches and even leaves that can throw off the balls path or completely make the ball unplayable. Pavlik navigated these hazards masterfully and because of that was able to finish his round in 80 shots.
Camden Morrison and Wyatt Lacina were next for the Wildcats in the standings, shooting 87 and 98 respectively. Morrison and Lacina struggled on some holes because the greens are small and run crazy fast.
That makes it difficult to close out holes and if they missed a putt by a couple of inches it would roll off the back of the green and add strokes to their score. That’s just golf, it’s frustrating and fickle game but to manage and navigate to an 87 and 98 is impressive.
Huxton Kloesel and Collin Morrison rounded out the Wildcats participation in the tournament where they shot 101 and 106 respectively. Again, Weimar Golf Course is a challenging course.
These guys ended up hitting out of the rough holes and the rough at this course is long and unforgiving. But they stayed grounded, did not dwell on bad shots, and finished their round with a couple of good bounces away from breaking 100.
The Wildcats will continue to grind and work on their game and their swings as their season moves along and they look to capture a championship before it ends.
