Ladycats All-District team selections

The Weimar Ladycats’ season may have come to an end, but they have a few players selected to the All-District roster.

The Weimar Ladycats’ season may have come to an end, but they have a few players selected to the All-District roster.

The Ladycats had eight players selected to the team, one earning an individual award.

Tate Griffin was named the Newcomer of the Year and rightfully so. Griffin is a freshman but adjusted to the speed and physicality of varsity very well.

Griffin played up and down the line up for the Ladycats and was constantly a factor for opposing defenses to account for. She’s extremely athletic, very strong physically and already so smart as a freshman.

The Ladycats know they have something with Griffin and rewarded her with extra minutes and she rewarded the team by being the best freshman in the district.

The first Al l-District team had only one Ladycat selected, but this young lady deserves it. Chandley Tolbert was the heartbeat of this team. She was always in the mix and kept this team alive when most people counted them out.

Tolbert was a part of that leadership core of juniors that the Ladycats rallied around throughout the season. She was essentially like a second coach on the floor and was always vocal with her teammates.

They all respected Tolbert throughout the season and only as a junior will they look to build off this accolade and come back stronger. Tolbert knows she did not act alone this season and the trio of Ladycats named to the second team played a large part in their success.

Izzy Reeves, Madi Luckey and Jaiya Cook were all named to the second team, and this trio may be underrated. Consistent starters are hard to find at the high school level, but the Ladycats were able to find three of them.

These three are the types of players coaches love because they know what they are going to get from them every single night. These three just so happen to be the type of players who can play in all situations and score from anywhere on the floor.

They do all the little things right that go unnoticed, and they can call themselves All-District players now because of it.

Some honorable mentions for the All-District teams were Clarie Pavlu, Lauren Hinze and Da’Dreanna Granger. This trio, much like the others, played up and down the lineup and kept things steady throughout the game. They understood their roles and played very well in them.

Congratulations to all Ladycats selected to the All-District team.
