COLUMBUS — The girls of the Boys and Girls Club enjoyed a new experience as the GirlFriends group took them on a trip to the Robert Wells Jr. Airport on Feb. 12.

Hosted by a trio of pilots, John Batla, Paul Blymer and Richard Greene, the girls learned aboiut the operations of the airport as well as the importance of different locations around the airport.

The girls got to sit in the cockpit of a plane as they were taught the different responsibilities of pilots during their trip.

The educational event was another initiative by the GirlFriends group, an organization dedicated to providing experience and mentorship to girls in the local school system to help them get early preparation for life.
