Filing period for municipal elections nears deadline

The filing period for candidates in municipal and local elections will end on Friday, Feb. 16. Residents of Columbus, Weimar or Eagle Lake who hope to run for election in positions for their respective cities, school districts or other municipal offices must submit their filing by 5 p.m. to include their name on the ballot during the May 4 election. The elections office advises interested candidates to visit their local political subdivision for more information on how to file their intent to run.
