I’m 53 years old. I’m self-employed in the sand and gravel business, I haul sand, gravel and dirt materials along constructing building pads, entrances, driveways and road maintenance. I also bale hay and raise cattle.

I worked for Strouhal tire in Wharton County for 15 years starting as a tire builder in the retread shop, and after many promotions, I retired from the position of outside salesman. While working there I managed over 100 accounts covering seven counties. I feel that my experience in working with the public as well as managing multiple customer accounts over a broad area along with my current work experience in the sand, gravel and road maintenance business for the past 20 years has given me a strong foundation for the precinct 1 commissioner position.

Voters should trust me because I’m honest and take pride in delivering quality work. I have strong integrity and morals. I’m approachable and easy to talk to and encourage anyone who has any questions to contact me. I want the citizens of precinct 1 to feel comfortable communicating with me about any concerns they have. I have a long history of completing the jobs I have started and making sure that quality work is done to the customer’s satisfaction. I listen to what people want and do my best to accommodate that. I have lived in Colorado County my entire life and know the people here and identify in many ways the same as most of them. I will listen and make sure the citizens of precinct 1 know they are being heard and represented well.

I am running because I think precinct 1 deserves a commissioner who will be committed to completing all aspects of the commissioner position efficiently and to the highest standards. I have had many conversations with current commissioner Doug Wessels as well as discussed many jobs with him so that I know exactly what this position entails. By doing that, I have ensured that I am capable and prepared for the position of commissioner.

Let me start by saying that being a politician and campaigning is out of my comfort zone. It feels too much like bragging on myself, which is something I don’t normally do. However, if voted into this position, I will work hard to ensure that the citizens of precinct 1 are satisfied with their choice in commissioner. I know many in this county may not know me, but I am supported and endorsed by the current Commissioner of Precinct 1 who has held the position and done an excellent job for the past 23 years. I hope to continue his work.
