I am 36 years old; I was raised on a farm and ranch, like many others throughout our community. I began my law enforcement career in 2009. I spent the majority of that time with the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, working through the ranks of Patrol Deputy, Patrol Sergeant, Auto Theft Investigator, Sergeant Investigator, and currently Chief Deputy. As Chief Deputy, I currently oversee the everyday operations, which include Patrol, Criminal Investigation Division, Court Room Security, Civil Division, Correctional Facility, and Communication Center. In total, there are 54 employees. Throughout my career, I have achieved many accomplishments while performing my duties as a Peace Officer. However, I don’t want to boast or brag about my achievements, as serving the community has always been, and will always be my greatest accomplishment.
I have an in-depth understanding of the operations of the Sheriff’s Office and the responsibilities that come with it. I have initiated changes recently that increased employee retention and bolstered interest for new employees, which will help boost resources for the coming growth within our community. I have been fortunate to work with the commissioners court on budget amendments, equipment funds, and construction requests. I have experience within the Sheriff’s Office and County government that can only be achieved with time on the job, which will allow for a smooth transition into the role of Sheriff.
At an early age, my great-grandparents instilled in me the values of responsibility, integrity, and community service. I utilize these values every day, both in my personal life and while on duty. Leading by example is the best way to pass those values down to those in my command.
I feel this is not only an employment commitment but also a personal commitment. I have always had a strong desire to serve Colorado County’s citizens and positively impact others’ lives. I firmly believe in and stand by community engagement as well as working with and alongside other local law enforcement agencies. I wish to continue serving our growing community as your Sheriff and leading us into the future.
I have spent years building relationships in our community to better serve the citizens as a law enforcement representative. Throughout the years, I have treated everyone fairly, whether they were citizens, victims, suspects, or strangers passing through. I was raised with conservative values and principles, which have helped me achieve my current status. I am far from a normal politician, and as your Sheriff, I will never forget who I work for, and that is you, the citizens.
