Columbus American Legion gifts scholarships after competition

The American Legion hosted an Oratorical Competition for Columbus ISD students to potentially earn scholarships for schooling after graduation. Columbus High School senior Alley Fitzgerald competed and was awarded a $500 scholarship by Columbus Post 383 Adjutant Herb Fish.

The American Legion hosted an Oratorical Competition for Columbus ISD students to potentially earn scholarships for schooling after graduation. Columbus High School senior Alley Fitzgerald competed and was awarded a $500 scholarship by Columbus Post 383 Adjutant Herb Fish.

Fitzgerald was awarded another $500 scholarship for her speech about the U.S. Constitution by District 19 Commander Terry Landrum, in the District Competition.

Fitzgerald then competed in the American Legion 3rd Division competition and placed in 3rd.

The 16th District is comprised of 20 American Legion posts, and the 3rd Division is comprised of 10 Districts.

Congratulations to Alley Fitzgerald for her accomplishments in the 91st American Legion Oratorical Competition.
