The City of Columbus received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting award on Feb. 7.

The city received the award, presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2021.

An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement was also presented to the individuals who the GFOA said are primarily responsible for earning the certificate. Mayor Lori An Gobert and City Manager Donald Warschak presented the award to City Secretary Bana Schneider and Assistant City Secretary Dinah Jacobs.

The mayor said this is the 14th year the city has received the award.

According to a release, the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
