SHERIFF’S REPORT

FRIDAY, NOV. 24

At approximately 9:13 a.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 1000 block of Dungens Mill Road, New Ulm, in reference to a burglary. After further investigation information was received and a report was taken. Case active.

At approximately 12:05 p.m., deputy Villanueva was dispatched to a public service in reference to threats being made to the complainant and other individuals by a known person. Information was taken to conduct an investigation. The investigation revealed no threats were made. Case is cleared.

SATURDAY, NOV. 25

At approximately 1:30 p.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 1100 block of Big Buck Road, Weimar, regarding a terroristic threat. After further investigation information was received and a warrant was issued. On December 5, 2023, Shane Hubenak, age 27, of Dallas, Tx, was arrested for terroristic threat of family/household — misdemeanor A. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 11:53 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the TA truck stop located at 6701 US Highway 90, Sealy, Tx, in reference to a fight in progress. After a thorough investigation, Ivan Noel Palomera, age 38, of Flatonia, Tx, was arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Case cleared by adult arrest.

SUNDAY, NOV. 26

At approximately 1:42 a.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 3700 block of US Highway 90, Glidden, Tx, in reference to a motor vehicle accident. The driver, Ernesto Meja, age 55, of Weimar, Tx, was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 11:03 a.m., deputy Villanueva was dispatched to the 1000 block of Columbus St., Altair, Tx, in reference to a terroristic threat. Information was gathered and a report was taken. Case is active pending further investigation.

MONDAY, NOV. 27

At approximately 1:56 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to Arthur St, Garwood, in reference to a disturbance involving a firearm. After further investigation the victim was unable to be contacted for questioning. Case inactive.

At approximately 5:52 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to CR 115 to assist Deputy Johson on a traffic stop. After further investigation Brian Korenak, age 60, of Nada, Tx, was arrested for driving while intoxicated 2nd — misdemeanor A. Case cleared by adult arrest.

TUESDAY, NOV. 28

At approximately 3:00 p.m, deputy Cantu was dispatched to CR 201 near Weimar in reference to property damage. After further investigation information was received and a report was taken. Case cleared.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 29

At approximately 10:17 a.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the Oakland area in Colorado County in reference to property damage that occurred on a fence fixture. A report was taken and no suspects have been identified at this time. Case cleared.

At approximately 3:41 p.m., deputy Byars conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 71 SB near Nada for traffic violation. After further investigation, Coy Rooks, age 56, of Bay City, Tx, was arrested for an outstanding out-of-county warrant. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 5:07 p.m., deputies located a wanted subject in the 1200 block of Kallus Beyer Road. Russell Smidovec, age 44, of Columbus, was taken into custody for outstanding warranty out of Colorado County, Austin County, and Pardons & Parole without incident. Case cleared by adult arrest.

THURSDAY, NOV. 30

At approximately 4:20 a.m., deputies were dispatched to I-10 EB near mile marker 701 in reference to a vehicle fire. A commercial vehicle became fully engulfed and was later extinguished by volunteer firefighters. No injuries were sustained. Case cleared.

At approximately 6:39 p.m., deputy Litvik was dispatched to the 100 block of Henry St. in Glidden in reference to an assault. After investigation, parties were separated and issued citations. Case cleared.

At approximately 9:14 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of CR 255 S in reference to unlawful disclosure. The victim state unknown person(s) obtained photographs of him with the intent of exploitation. The suspect(s) have yet to be identified.

FRIDAY, DEC. 1

At approximately 6:32 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to the 3800 block of FM 109 in reference to a motor vehicle accident. After further investigation, Jonathan West, age 37, of Columbus, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

At approximately 9:22 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to EB 710 in reference to a vehicle fire. After further investigation it was deemed the vehicle was a total loss. Case cleared.

SATURDAY, DEC. 2

At approximately 7:09 a.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to Old McDonald Road in Columbus in reference to a dog attack. Information was taken to conduct an investigation and a citation was issued to the dog owner for not having current rabies vaccination.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., deputy Nino was dispatched to a public service in reference to child custody near Sheridan, Tx. After further investigation it was determined the respondent of the protective order had violated the conditions. Case is active.

At approximately 3:05 p.m., deputy Nino was dispatched to 7368 Hwy 71 S in Garwood, Tx in reference to stray animals.

SUNDAY, DEC. 3

At approximately 10:35 a.m., deputy Nino was dispatched to a public service in reference to property damage. Due to lack of evidence this case will remain inactive until further information.

At approximately 11:08 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to the 4500 block of State Highway 71 in reference to a domestic dispute. After further investigation, Amanda Smith, age 40, of Columbus, Tx, was arrested for assault of a family/household member with previous conviction — felony 3. Case cleared by arrest.

MONDAY, DEC. 4

At approximately 9:16 a.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 3000 block of CR 106 in reference to property damage. After further investigation it was determined there was a lack of evidence and no forced entry was apparent. Case inactive.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., deputy Byars #619 assisted in the search of a motor vehicle matching the description of a hit-and-run incident in the area of mile marker 707. After further investigation the vehicle and driver were located and the investigation was handed over to Texas Department of Public Safety. Case cleared by information only.

At approximately 5:41 p.m., deputy Livitk was dispatched to the 6000 block of W. Fourth ½ St. Sheridan, Tx, in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, Jose Pinal, age 43, of Sheridan, Tx, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (F2) x2 and unlawful restraint (MA). Case cleared by adult arrest.
