The Weimar Ladycats strengthened their grip on their playoff spot after splitting their two games this past week.

The Ladycats took on Flatonia and Schulenburg and ended up falling to Flatonia before defeating their rival.

Vs. Flatonia, 52-33, L

On Tuesday, Jan. 23 the Ladycats welcomed Flatonia to their home court. Flatonia, who is currently second place in the district, came in ready to keep their season chugging along as they are locked into a playoff spot.

The Ladycats have a little bit of wiggle room when it comes to losing at this part of the season, so this loss is not too detrimental to what they are trying to accomplish. Flatonia came into Weimar, dominated the game, and gave the Ladycats a 19-point loss out of town.

Double-digit losses always hurt but, the Ladycats have shown on more than one occasion this season that they move on from losses quickly. They can snap back into form and pick up huge wins when they need them, and Friday was no different.

@ Schulenburg, 56-21, W

The Ladycats had to travel for their next game and had to go see their rivals out in Schulenburg.

Coming off a loss to one of the top teams in the district opened the door for the Ladycats to learn from a lot of mistakes and apply those lessons in the game against Schulenburg. The Ladycats came out firing on offense to start the game.

The Ladycats swarmed Schulenburg’s basket and scored at will it seemed like at the beginning of the game. Schulenburg had no answers for the Ladycats, and they were able to run away with the game because of it.

As time ticked off the clock the Ladycats only got better and better as their offense continued to light the way for a huge bounce back victory.

The Ladycats now look ahead on their schedule which will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 30, on their home court when the Lousie Hornets come to town.
