The Rice Raiders found themselves on the losing end of an overtime game again last week but bounced back with a win to end the week.

The Raiders took on Hallettsville and Tidehaven this past week with the Raiders picking up a big win against Tidehaven.

Vs. Hallettsville, 58-55, OTL

On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the Raiders returned home after an overtime loss to the Columbus Cardinals on the road. The Raiders enjoyed some home cooking and came into the game ready for a fresh start after the past couple of games being as exciting as they were.

Hallettsville came in with different plans and took the game to the Raiders from the beginning. Like the past three games, it was a constant back and forth between the two teams with the Raiders and Hallettsville both gaining and surrendering the lead multiple times in the tightly contested game.

For the third game in a row the Raiders found themselves in overtime. Their offense again struggled to get anything going and Hallettsville was able to close the game out because of it.

The Raiders have now lost back-to-back games in overtime, and with only a few games left they want to solidify their spot in the playoffs. They knew their next game they needed a win and played with that type of attitude.

@ Tidehaven, 66-63, W

After back-to-back losses the Raiders were willing to do anything to add another win to the win column.

They played with a different sense of urgency in Friday’s game against Tidehaven. They were still aggressive on defense and did not cross the line too much.

The Raiders returned to their identity all season, which was aggressive defense, limited fouls and flew around the court on offense. Tidehaven kept things close and was able to go on a late run to give the Raiders a scare.

The Raiders were able to navigate the waters though and close out the game to keep their spot as second-place in the distrcit.

The Raiders now set their sights on Palacios who is next on their schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 30, on their home court.
