The Rice Lady Raiders struggles continue for the young team after losing two more games this past week.

The Lady Raiders played the Yoakum Lady Bulldogs and the Columbus Lady Cardinals and struggled to get any offense going.

Vs. Yoakum, L, 55-25

The Lady Raiders came back to school after the freeze to play their game against Yoakum.

Yoakum played a very complete game against the Lady Raiders, but the Lady Raiders have trouble scoring around the basket. The Lady Raiders have the size and length on their roster to have a dominate paint presence but struggle to score in close and it is what cost them this game.

The Lady Raiders were a lot taller and bigger than Yoakum, but Yoakum played great defense in the paint making the Lady Raiders struggle even worse.

While they are experiencing a ton of growing pains because they have a relatively young roster this season, the Lady Raiders are still showing up for every game, trying to improve. The Lady Raiders know that they have still have some work to do and they are willing to do it.

They got another chance to test themselves later in the week against the Columbus Lady Cards and took full advantage of it.

@ Columbus, L, 53-25

The Lady Raiders rolled into Columbus looking to test themselves against one of the district’s top teams as a bit of a measuring stick.

The Lady Cards are currently third in the district and playing on the road it gave the Lady Raiders a chance to see just how much more they can improve. The Lady Cards played like they normally do and applied pressure, forced turnovers and scored at will.

The Lady Raiders kept up for most of the first half but the Lady Cards eventually grasped full control of the game.

As time ticked down the Lady Raiders still had smiles on their faces as they knew that even though they lost the game they can still find ways to make them a better team and learn from the losses.

The Lady Raiders now set their sights in Hallettsville, looking to use all the lessons they learned to try to secure their first district win of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
