The Weimar Wildcats’ four-game winning streak ended this week after being defeated by Bloomington and Shiner last week.

The two losses give the Wildcats a 2-4 record in District play so far leaving them on the outside looking in for the playoff race.

Vs. Bloomington, L, 41-36

The Wildcats started the week making up their game on their home court after the freeze against Bloomington.

Bloomington came into the game with a perfect 5-0 record through district and had no intention of slowing down or stopping. The Wildcats were not just going to let them come in a blow them out on their home court though.

The Wildcats took the game right to Bloomington and had an attitude of having nothing to lose. Trying to crawl their way back to a playoff spot the Wildcats knew they would have to beat one of the teams in the playoffs to give themselves a chance and figured why not try to beat the team on top of the district standings.

Bloomington was able to hold onto the lead to end the game, but they left with a newfound respect for the Wildcats because they kept things close and battled hard to keep the game close coming off a little break because of the freeze.

@ Shiner, L, 49-28

The Wildcats traveled to Shiner to finish out their games for the week taking on the 4th place team in the district.

Sitting in 5th place, the Wildcats knew this was going to be a big game when it comes to seeding. Unfortunately, Shiner knew that fact just a little bit more and handed the Wildcats a statement 20-point loss to close out their in-season series.

Shiner was full go from the opening tip and barley gave the Wildcats time to breath. The Wildcats had no answer for Shiner and now may need some help if they want to make the playoffs.

But as for now the Wildcats will remain focused on themselves and look forward to their next game against Flatonia on Tuesday, Jan. 23, where they will look to secure a big district win on their home court.
