Full candidate list for local elections

The county elections office has released the full list of positions up for election at the upcoming primaries. Several incumbents are up for reelection this cycle, and there are a few candidates that will be running unopposed. Below is a list of the positions up for election and the candidates vying for their respective positions. There are no democratic candidates for any local positions in Colorado County. A full voter’s guide with a description of each candidate will be available in the Citizen in the weeks preceding the election.
Full candidate list for local elections

The county elections office has released the full list of positions up for election at the upcoming primaries. Several incumbents are up for reelection this cycle, and there are a few candidates that will be running unopposed. Below is a list of the positions up for election and the candidates vying for their respective positions. There are no democratic candidates for any local positions in Colorado County. A full voter’s guide with a description of each candidate will be available in the Citizen in the weeks preceding the election.

COUNTY ATTORNEY: Incumbent Jay Johannes will run unopposed in this election.

SHERIFF: Candidates Wendy Alley and Justin Lindemann are in the running for county sheriff. Both have been involved with the local police force for several years

COUNTY TAX ASSESSOR-COLLECTOR: There is a trio of candidates running for the top position at the county tax office. Incumbent candidate Erica Kollaja will be running for reelection against Bruce Besch and Melinda A. Zajicek.

COUNTY COMMISSIONER PRECINCT 1: Incumbent Doug Wessels will not be running for reelection for County Commissioner in Precinct 1. One of Shannon Owers or Reuben Taylor will serve their first term after the election.

COUNTY COMMISSIONER PRECINCT 3: Incumbent Keith E. Neuendorff will likely hold his position as he will run unopposed in the upcoming election.

JUSTICE OF THE PEACE PRECINCT 3: After the passing of Frances Truchard, the longest tenured JP in Texas history, current Justice Don Clark accepted the position to finish Truchard’s term. Clark will be running for reelection against challengers Will Schneider and Bennie Zajicek.

COUNTY CONSTABLE PRECINCT 1: Richard J. Lacourse will run unopposed in this election.

COUNTY CONSTABLE PRECINCT 2: Lonnie L. Hinze will run unopposed in this election.

COUNTY CONSTABLE PRECINCT 3: Ivan V. Menke will run unopposed in this election.

COUNTY CONSTABLE PRECINCT 4: Incumbent Darrell Stancik will be challenged by candidate Adrian Flores for the position of constable.
