The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 met for its regular meeting on Jan. 9 with 11 members present. The meeting was opened according to the Ritual by President Charlene Muras.
President Charlene Muras read an email from the district regarding the next meeting on April 6 in Hallettsville. Secretary Marty Heinrich read thank-you notes from the Texas VFW Foundation and from the Veterans Administration in Houston.
There are currently 21 annual members and 15 life members for a total of 36 members.
Jeanette Koenig reported that Valentines will be made by school kids, there will be a Flag program and the school kids contests will be publicized at schools this month. Dolores Lauck reported that socks, gloves, and caps for veterans will be distributed this month. National Home Ambassador Korie Fogleman presented her bio which will be submitted to District. There were 10 veterans, six residents and three Auxiliary volunteers present at the men’s coffee at Parkview on Dec. 15. A new schedule for the men’s coffee will be handed out at the next meeting. Charlene Muras encouraged members to vote in the upcoming primary election. Sara Bansal reported that she is making over 120 nurse survival kits for distribution this month.
Donations of socks, gloves and caps for Warming Veterans, cookies for nursing personnel and nurse survival kits will all be distributed on Jan. 24.
Members voted to donate to the National Veterans’ Services and to the Patriotic Art Escrow Fund, The Quarterly Audit report was presented by Trustee Dolores Lauck and it was accepted as read.
The next meeting will be on Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Weimar VFW Hall kitchen at 503 Park Drive.
