At approximately 7:50 a.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 2000 block of FM 949, Alleyton, Tx, regarding lost or stolen property. After further investigation, information was received, and a report was taken. The property was entered into TCIC/NCIC as lost/stolen. Information only, case cleared.
At approximately 9:47 a.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 6700 block of US-90 Highway, Sealy, Tx, regarding ID theft. After further investigation, information was received, and a report was generated. Case is inactive.
At approximately 7:09 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to Splashway located at 5211 Main St., Sheridan, Tx, in reference to two burglaries of motor vehicles.
SATURDAY, OCT. 28
At approximately 10:39 a.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 1400 block of County Road 122, Garwood, Tx, regarding a burglary of habitation. After further investigation, the scene was processed, and evidence was collected. Case active.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., deputy Ramirez was dispatched to the 5600 block of Hwy 90 near Cat Spring, Tx, in reference to a subject trespassing. After further investigation, Jesus Rangel, age 17 of Houston, Tx, was arrested for criminal trespass class B misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.
SUNDAY, OCT. 29
At approximately 1:47 a.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to a business on County Road 107, Columbus, Tx, in reference to a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot. After further investigation Ryne Castillo, age 36 of Columbus, Tx was arrested for driving while intoxicated 2nd - class A misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 3:19 a.m., deputy Melendez was dispatched to the 1300 block of County Road 16, Altair, Tx, in reference to a vehicle collision involving livestock. The owner of the livestock was identified and a Texas Peace Officer’s crash report was completed. Case active.
At approximately 9:56 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to a residence on County Road 106, Rock Island, Tx, in reference to an assault. Prior to my arrival all parties were separated, and remained separated throughout the investigation. The victim ultimately decided to deny prosecution of the suspect. Case is cleared.
MONDAY, OCT. 30
At approximately 11:51 a.m., deputy Nino was dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff’s office lobby to meet with a complainant in reference to extortion. After further investigation, information was received and a report taken. Case is inactive.
TUESDAY, OCT. 31
At approximately 11:30 a.m., deputy Lindemann was informed of a complainant in the lobby in reference to theft. Lindemann met with the complainant and a report was filed. This case will be passed on to the County Attorney Investigator or Columbus Police Department for further prosecution. Case cleared by information.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., deputy Mican was dispatched to the Columbus Community Hospital in reference to a family violence victim in the emergency room. After further investigation, a warrant was issued for Jacob Tyler Sens, age 30, of Sealy, Tx, for the offense of assault causing bodily injury, with a previous conviction, 3rd degree felony, who was arrested on November 14, 2023. Case cleared by arrest.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 1
At approximately 8:45 a.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 1400 block of Calhoun Road, Eagle Lake, Tx, regarding a theft. After further investigation, information was received and a report taken. Case is inactive.
At approximately 10:04 a.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 4200 block of US-90A, Altair, Tx, regarding a motor vehicle accident on private property. After further investigation, one person was transported to Rice Medical with non-life threatening injuries. Case cleared by information only.
At approximately 12:15 p.m., deputy Villanueva was dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff’s office in reference to theft. Upon arrival it was determined that approximately $458.00 worth of travel points were stolen electronically. Case cleared by information only.
At approximately 2:23 a.m., deputy Villanueva was dispatched to IH-10 EB near MM 704 Benardo, Tx in reference to a vehicle fire. Columbus Volunteer FD arrived on scene and extinguished the fire; the vehicle was deemed a total loss. Case cleared by information only.
THURSDAY, NOV. 2
At approximately 11:30 a.m., deputy Villanueva was dispatched to a public service in reference to a theft. Information was gathered and a report was taken for insurance purposes. Case cleared by information only.
FRIDAY, NOV. 3
At approximately 8:07 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to the 1000 block of Oak Crest Drive in New Ulm, Tx in reference to a domestic disturbance. After further investigation, Marlin Vasek, 28, of New Ulm, Tx, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury to a family member - class A misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.
SATURDAY, NOV. 4
At approximately 4:58 a.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to CR 107 near FM 2434 in reference to a motor vehicle accident. After further investigation, a report was taken.
SUNDAY, NOV. 5
At approximately 1:12 p.m., deputy Mican was dispatched to Old Altair Road in reference to criminal mischief. An employee intentionally crashed a John Deere Gator into a tree. An arrest warrant was issued for Richard Edward Cardenas, age 43, of Eagle Lake, Tx, for the offense of criminal mischief, State Jail Felony. Cardenas was arrested on November 24, 2023. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 3:00 p.m., deputy Nino was dispatched to Columbus Community Hospital in reference to an animal bite. After further investigation it was determined the dog was put down by the owner improperly where the dog could not be tested for rabies. Case cleared.
MONDAY, NOV. 6
At approximately 8:13 a.m., deputy Villanueva was dispatched to the 6700 block of US HWY 90, Sealy, Tx, 77474 in reference to a stolen tractor trailer. Information was received and will be entered into TCIC/NCIC as stolen. Case active.
At approximately 9:19 a.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 400 block of Main Street, Garwood, Tx regarding a motor vehicle accident. After further investigation, information was received, and a report was taken. Case cleared by information only.
At approximately 1:39 p.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 5700 block of Avenue D, Sheridan, Tx regarding a dog attack. An investigation was conducted and a report was taken. Case is active.
TUESDAY, NOV. 7
At approximately 1:00 p.m., deputy Villanueva was advised of an estray cow at the Cattleman’s Columbus Livestock Auction. After further investigation, the owner of the livestock was located and informed of the location to be picked up. Case cleared.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 8
At approximately 9:00 a.m., deputy Lopez was provided an abuse/neglect report from Child Protective Services, in reference to a child being exposed to a harmful home environment. An investigation was conducted and the findings of the investigation will be forwarded to CPS for review. Case information only.
THURSDAY, NOV. 9
At approximately 2:32 a.m., deputy Blaha conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Whataburger in Columbus, Tx. After further investigation a missing juvenile labeled as suicidal was taken into custody and released to CPS. Case is cleared.
At approximately 9:00 a.m., deputy Argo while working at Rice High School, in Altair, Tx was informed by the Principal of a student who had a vape pen in his possession. Argo investigated the incident and then issued the student a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia. Case is cleared and referred to JP-1 for processing.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., deputy Weido spoke with a complainant in reference to a forged bank check that was suspected to have been stolen from a US Postal Collection Box in Eagle Lake, Tx. information was obtained to conduct an investigation. The case is active.
FRIDAY, NOV. 10
At approximately 6:42 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 2600 block of Cat Spring Road in reference to property damage. After further investigation, the property was repaired and the issue was resolved civilly. Case cleared.
MONDAY, NOV. 13
At approximately 4:00 p.m., deputy Nino was dispatched to the 1400 block of Milam Street, Columbus, Tx in reference to fraud. Case pending further investigation.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 15
At approximately 10:10 a.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 4500 block of Highway 90, Alleyton, Tx regarding a theft. After further investigation, it was determined that a heavy-duty machine was stolen. Case active.
THURSDAY, NOV. 16
At approximately 7:13 a.m., deputy Villanueva was dispatched to the 2800 block of Zimmerscheidt Road, in Bernardo, Tx in reference to a theft. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken for information only. Case active.
FRIDAY, NOV. 17
At approximately 11:46 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to IH-10 709 WB near Bernardo, Tx in reference to a reckless driver. After further investigation, a traffic stop was conducted, and Albaro Davila, age 31, of Houston, Tx was arrested for driving while intoxicated - misdemeanor B. Case cleared by adult arrest.
SATURDAY, NOV. 18
At approximately 1:38 a.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to Venghaus George Road and Zimmerscheidt Road, in reference to a vehicle parked in the roadway. After further investigation Dustin Levien, age 41, of Round Top, Tx was arrested for driving while intoxicated - misdemeanor B. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 4:49 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to business 71 and highway 71 in reference to a motor vehicle accident. After further investigation, Melanie Martinez, age 21, of Wharton, Tx was arrested for a felony warrant out of Fayette County and failing to ID a fugitive with intent to give false information. Case cleared by report.
SUNDAY, NOV. 19
At approximately 4:02 a.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to FM 2761 near FM 949 in reference to a vehicle parked in the lanes of traffic. After further investigation the vehicle was towed off the roadway.
MONDAY, NOV. 20
At approximately 6:28 a.m., deputy Ohl arrived at Interstate Highway 10 near Weimar, Tx in reference to an abandoned vehicle. After further investigation, the vehicle was towed from the roadway and entered as stored and abandoned in TCIC/NCIC. Case cleared.
At approximately 2:10 p.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 1000 block of Vivian Lane, Cat Spring, Tx, regarding property damage. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Information only at this time. At approximately 4:36 p.m., deputy Lopez received a public service from a complainant who stated that there was a subject trespassing at her business near Sheridan, Tx. After further investigation, the subject was served a criminal trespass warning. Case cleared.
At approximately 7:19 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to Carter Walker Road, Eagle Lake, Tx in reference to a fraud.
At approximately 9:23 p.m., deputy Melendez conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of State Highway 71 W and Business 71 for a moving violation. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and resulted in location drug paraphernalia. The sole occupant of the vehicle was cited for the offense and released. Case cleared.
At approximately 1:50 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched in reference to animal cruelty. An investigation was conducted which determined that the animals on the property had adequate food and water. Follow-ups will be conducted to ensure the animals are being taken care of properly.
TUESDAY, NOV. 21
At approximately 2:58 p.m., deputy Villanueva was dispatched to the 2200 block of FM 949 in Alleyton in reference to found property. Through further investigation, the owner of the property was located and returned. A criminal trespass warning was served to the owner of the found property. Case cleared.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 22
At approximately 10:51 a.m., deputy Nino was dispatched to Jim Bob Lane in New Ulm, Tx in reference to a theft. Case pending further investigation.
THURSDAY, NOV. 23
At approximately 3:41 a.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to Brazos Street in Glidden in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, a report was taken. Travis Neundorff, age 26, of Glidden, was arrested for assault family violence impeding breath/circulation. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 5:20 p.m., deputy Pavlicek was dispatched to CR 114 near Garwood in reference to property damage. After further investigation, a report was generated. Case inactive.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to mile marker 704 on Interstate 10 near Alleyton in reference to a reckless driver. After further investigation, Michael Smith, age 41, of Sealy, Tx, was arrested for driving while intoxicated 2nd - misdemeanor A. Case cleared by adult arrest.
