Norbert Frank Sablatura, 90, of Columbus, Texas, passed away on Jan. 9, 2024 in Columbus, Texas.
He was born on Jan. 15, 1933 to Frank Sablatura and Claudie (Hajovsky) Sablatura in El Campo, Texas. On Oct. 2, 1956 he married Joyce Anna Tomas.
In 1955 Norbert started at QP grocery store where he worked for 25 years. He then worked as a warehouse manager for M & S Distributors in La Grange for many years delivering his favorite beer, Coors Light. He spent time in the U.S. Army from April 23, 1953 to April 22, 1955.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Back in the day Norbert enjoyed visiting with his friends at Peter’s Texaco after work and playing dominoes with his buddies. He loved gardening and feeding the birds daily in his backyard where they lined up and waited on him. He also enjoyed watching old Westerns on TV and drinking beer at Jugheads.
Norbert is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Joyce Sablatura; daughter Jackie S. Arthur and husband Chris; son Terry R. Sablatura and wife Mary; sisters Dorothy Fiala, Margaret Waters, and Mary Ann Bryant; grandchildren Sydney Sablatura and fiancé Brandon Simons, Hali Sablatura, and Ryan Arthur.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Claudie Sablatura.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas.
Funeral Service was held on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, Texas. Fr. James Dvorak officiated. Visitation at church was from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Burial took place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, Texas.
Pallbearers were Jerome Dvorak, Charles Barrett, Brandon Barten, Danny Ostert, Frank Kovar, and Steve Heffley. Honorary pallbearers were Sydney Sablatura, Hali Sablatura and Ryan Arthur.

Norbert never met a stranger and loved to just talk and visit with people around town. He will be greatly missed by many.
