Amos Bonds Smith Jr., 75, of Columbus, Texas, passed away on Jan. 4, 2024 in Columbus, Texas.
He was born on Dec. 12, 1948 to Amos Bonds Smith and Mattie Bell (Hamel) Smith in Tyler, Texas. On Jan. 14, 1969 he married Elizabeth Theresa Schu.
Amos worked in construction, and as a truck driver/auto transporter for many years.
He enjoyed working on cars and being outside hunting and fishing. He loved his grand babies and four legged babies the most.
Amos is survived by his wife Elizabeth Smith; daughter Carlenna Jacobs and husband Bryan; sons Patrick Smith and wife Jean and Amos Smith, III and wife Alma; brother Billy Smith and wife Gloria; grandchildren Misty Jacobs, Jaclynn Darnell and husband Kevin, Lauren Smith, Jaelee Smith, Shelby Marler, Josh Berendsen and wife Kasey, and Brian Berendsen and wife Wendy; great-grandchildren Colby Berendsen, Brantley Darnell, Cooper Darnell, Caiden Berendsen, Britney Berendsen, and Briana Berendsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents Amos and Mattie Smith; brother Richard Smith; sister Glenna Perry.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. Steve Ledbetter will be officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Eureka Cemetery in Corsicana, Texas. Burial will follow in Eureka Cemetery.
