The Weimar Wildcats captured their first win of 2024 by defeating the Homeschool Christian Youth Association Warriors 4420 on Tuesday, Jan. 2, on their home court.
A day after the new year began the Wildcats were back to work on the court and securing a victory to start things off on the right foot.
Coming off their win over Yorktown the Wildcats took on the Warriors in Weimar to get the season rolling again in 2024. The Wildcats started the game buzzing offensively and defensively but had a hard time getting shots to drop.
With the ball did not seem to cooperate with the Wildcats early on in the game the offense eventually sorted itself out. As the offense’s confidence grew the Wildcats’ defense shined the brightest.
Defensively the Wildcats were more physical and just wanted the ball more than the Warriors. The Wildcats hauled in seemingly every rebound that bounced off the rim.
This helped them control the pace of play and run their systems with ease. The Wildcats closed out the game shortly after and now look ahead to their next game.
Their next game is a big one because it is a district game. Sitting at 0-2 in district play so far this season, the Wildcats are looking to get back on track.
The Wildcats have Lousie next on their schedule, and with all the momentum from winning their last two games, they are looking to pick up another win and start stacking up wins before the playoffs start. The Wildcats will prepare to host Ganado for a district matchup.
The game is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 9, with the opening tip-off set for 7:15 p.m.
