COLUMBUS — The Columbus High School band program is preparing for a musical showcase featuring the band director and fellow high-grade musicians on Thursday, Feb. 1 at the high school auditorium.
The Columbus band created the idea with the hope of bringing a high-quality musical performance to the rural community for those who may have a harder time seeking out performances of this nature.
“One of the purposes of this recital is to expose our students and surrounding community to a variety of high-quality repertoire on varying instruments, Band Director Alexander Busby said, “Being rurally located, this can be a challenge. That is one reason we decided to bring this opportunity to them and the community.”
The event will be free to the public as the band is hoping to attract as many audience members to the event as possible. The recital will feature performances by Busby on woodwinds, Anthony Allen on percussion instruments and Tim Smale on piano.
