The Weimar Ladycats hosted a tournament this past week and invited a lot fo talented teams to participate.

The tournament was from Dec. 27-28, the Ladycats took on Industrial and Boling for their first two games and ended up splitting with one win and one loss.

Vs. Industrial, W, 40-34

The Ladycats had suffered two tough district losses before playing in this tournament and were looking to get things back on track.

The hosting team dove headfirst into the competition of the tournament taking on Industrial first and it was a tight game, but the Ladycats were able to find a way to come away with the win. The Ladycats defense stood tall late in the game coming up with momentum shifting blocks, steals and turnovers.

They made Industrial uncomfortable down the stretch and forced them to take bad shots and force the ball into spots on the court that were advantageous to the Ladycats. The pressure the Ladycats applied scrambled Industrial as the Ladycats pounced all over them to close out the game.

With the first win under their belt the Ladycats now had to look their next challenge in the face. In game two of their back-to-back and already feeling the fatigue, the Ladycats knew they were going to have to dig deep if they were going to win their next game against Boling.

Vs. Boling, W, 41-37

Coming off their first win of the tournament the Ladycats were feeling confident heading into game two.

The Ladycats and Boling went back and forth to start the game keeping the game close as it can be. The gym was filled with nervous energy as the hometown fans wanted to see their Ladycats secure their second win of the tournament.

Boling was able to go on a late run to pull away from the Ladycats, but the Ladycats were not ready to surrender. They gave a late push against Boling to cut into their lead. They were able to cut the Boling lead down to four points but unfortunately, they ran out of time and suffered their first loss of the tournament.

Their efforts did not go unnoticed though and they found themselves in the semi-finals matched up against Edna looking to punch their ticket to the Championship game on their home court.
