EAGLE LAKE — The Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club is providing free vision screening services to schools and parents in the community through two of its members, Jeff Cunkelman and Bob Lapham.

The members became certified vision screeners, authorized by the Texas Department of State Health Services, in January.

They will use their training by performing vision screenings in the community using the Lions Kid-Sight Optix Photo technology that screens younger pre-school aged children for Amblyopia (Lazy Eye Syndrome) and the HOTV Eye Chart to screen vision acuity of school age children. The Lions KidSight USA screenings are free to the schools and parents.

According to a release, both screenings give “pass” or “refer” results that are instantly available and shared with parents and schools. The screenings can help identify the need for a professional eye exam follow-up.

For questions about the screenings, contact Cunkelman at 713-545-1054.
