GARWOOD — The Austin County Regional Special Response Team fulfilled a warrant for the alleged sale of illegal narcotics on Thursday, Dec. 7 along with Colorado County enforcement.
Early in the morning at just after 5 a.m., the narcotics task force arrived to the home of defendant Bruce Montgomery, 59, to execute a search/arrest warrant after an ongoing investigation into the sale of narcotics in Colorado County.
Montgomery is accused of the manufacture and/or delivery of a controlled substance as well as the possession of a controlled substance.
Following a search of the residence off of Hwy 71 in Garwood, the task force located and seized cocaine, methamphetamine and money.
The Montgomery arrest is part of a concerted effort by Westside Narcotics Task Force to investigate several complaints of illegal substances in various locations around Colorado County. Montgomery was booked into the Colorado County Jail following the operation.
The Westside Narcotics Task Force covers four counties and is a combination of investigators from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Bellville PD, Sealy PD, Hempstead PD, Waller County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and DEA. The Colorado County Sheriff’s Office and County Attorney as well as the Waller County Sheriff’s Office K9 Division also played a role in serving the warrant.
