The Rice Lady Raiders have snapped their losing streak after 10 games to capture their first win of the season.

The Lady Raiders defeated the Brazos Cougars 39-9 on Monday, Dec. 4, on their home court.

The Lady Raiders had endured a lot of tough losses to get to this point and all of those lessons paid off. The Lady Raiders have been improving every game they have played this year and now they have a win to show for it.

The Lady Raiders offense is one that has made the biggest improvements since game one this season. The offense had always been close to closing out a game for the Lady Raiders but were never able to complete the job.

But as of Monday, they pieced it all together and they were able to defeat the Cougars and secure their first win.

The Lady Raiders relied on their veteran leaders to help get the job done for their first win. All of their seniors and juniors were at the heart of the offensive and defensive play for the Lady Raiders, and it led them to establishing a very comfortable early lead.

At halftime the Lady Raiders did not change too much as far as the gameplan went and continued to apply pressure in the second half. The Lady Raiders continued to score in the second half and really started to get the fans involved because of it.

The fan presence was a big factor in the game because they willed their team to their first victory of the season. The Lady Raiders fed off of the crowd and when the clock hit zero the celebration began.

The Lady Raiders were proud of what they accomplished especially defensively because holding a team to under 10 points is no easy feat, but the Lady Raiders were able to secure win number one of the season.

The Lady Raiders now look ahead to their next game against the Columbus Lady Cardinals on Tuesday, Dec. 12, on their home court.
