The Rice Lady Raiders dropped back-to-back games on Friday, Dec. 1, to Bellville and Lehman.
The Lady Raiders are still searching for their first win as their losing streak grows to nin games.
@ Bellville, L, 42-31
The Lady Raiders matched up with Bellville for the first of their double header and game them a game.
The Lady Raiders offense has been getting better and better with each game they play, and they started to piece some things together against Bellville. The Lady Raiders were moving the ball effectively and opening lanes to drive to the basket and took full advantage of the open space on the floor.
Defensively the Lady Raiders were just as aggressive and ended up taking the ball away from Bellville a couple of times. They also forced Bellville to travel a couple of times which made the Lady Raiders confidence grow.
The Lady Raiders showed no fear in their first game and were in the mix for the whole game. Bellville was able to get a couple extra possessions though and took care of business at the free throw line to help build their lead.
With this game behind them the Lady Raiders had to prepare for their second game against Lehman.
@ Lehman, L, 43-19
Coming off the tough loss to Bellville fatigue became a factor for the Lady Raiders as they tipped-off for game two.
Lehman had fresher legs early in the game a quickly jumped out to an early lead. They rode this lead all the way until the clock hit zeros in the fourth quarter.
Despite the loss the Lady Raiders did a lot of good things in the game and continued to build their confidence. The name of the game for the Lady Raiders each time they step on the court is not necessarily wins and losses but it’s about getting better each game.
They did a lot of things right throughout the game but there were also a lot of lessons learned in the loss. They can only use it to make themselves better and luckily, they have a chance to learn and then apply it to a real game this week.
The Lady Raiders’ next game comes on Tuesday, Dec. 5 when they take on the Needville Blue Jays on their home court still in search of their first win.
