COLUMBUS — The Nov. 30 meeting of Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club featured speakers from the Live Oak Art Center, Executive Director Carly Howlett and President of the Board of Directors Renee Long.

The Live Oak Art Center, 1014 Milam St. is an independent, nonprofit arts venue located in the historic 1891 Brunson Building, one of the oldest buildings in Columbus. The gallery space houses an impressive permanent collection as well as diverse exhibitions from local and regional artists.

The mission of the Live Oak Art Center is to advance community appreciation, understanding and participation in the visual arts. They strive to encourage artists, build audiences, stimulate conversation, and promote creative inquiry. They proudly offer classes, workshops, summer camps, and art exhibitions for all those who live in or near Columbus.

Their current ambitious offerings during the month of December include the Annual Members Art Show in the downstairs Emma Hay Gallery; The Grand Re-Opening of The Courtyard; Ladies Night Out on Dec. 7;” Get Your Grinch On”: an adult paint class on Dec. 12; Kids Christmas Card Craft with Mrs. Clause on Dec. 15; and the Pet Portrait Contest in January.
