The Weimar Ladycats continued their hot start to the season by defeating the Nordheim Pirates 61-14 on Tuesday, Nov. 21, in Nordheim.
The Ladycats are off to a 3-0 and have outscored the teams they played 157-38 and Tuesday night was no different.
The Ladycats’ defense set the tone early in the game with their aggressive play. They were in the Pirates’ face from the opening tip off to the final buzzer.
The aggressive defense from the Ladycats overwhelmed the Pirates and forced several turnovers early on in the game. The Ladycats took full advantage of these turnovers by jumping out on a fastbreak or bringing the ball up and setting up their offensive system.
The Pirates had no answer for the Ladycats when they were set up in their offense and the Ladycats were able to find multiple lanes to the net because of it. They moved the ball fast and often and forced the Pirates to get out of position and took advantage of the open lane when they did.
The Ladycats were sitting with a very comfortable lead as the two teams went into the break and came back in the third quarter with the same effort. The Ladaycats pressured the Pirates’ offense and continued to force turnovers in the second half of the game.
Despite the pressure in the second half the Pirates were able to find some offense in the game and put some points on the board late. The Ladycats continued to make plays on both sides of the floor and as the clock ticked down to zero, they were able to enjoy another win on the season.
The Ladycats are rolling early in the season and will look to continue their streak in their next game against the Fayetteville Lions on Tuesday, Nov. 28, in Weimar.
