Connections to the county

While local residents were supporting Columbus and Schulenburg High School in the UIL State Volleyball Tournament last week, locals were also supporting Katy-Cinco Ranch High School’s quest for gold. Shea Rainosek, a Senior at Cinco Ranch, starts as the middle hitter for the team and is a three-year starter. Shea is the daughter of Perry (Weimar) and Stephanie (Simmons) Rainosek (Columbus) and granddaughter of Lea and Doris Rainosek and Jimmy and Randa Simmons. The team played Harlan (San Antonio) on Friday winning in 4 sets and competed in the State Finals on Saturday. Cinco came up short losing to Grand Oaks (Conroe) who was the No. 1 ranked public school in the state. Cinco finished as the 6A State Runner-Up amongst 260 teams in the 6A division comprised of the largest schools in Texas. Shea is committed to play volleyball at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX next year.
