The Weimar Ladycats volleyball season may be over, but they are still earning honors because of their efforts this past season.

The Ladycats had seven players named to the Academic All-District team, three named to the 1st All-District team, two named to the 2nd All-District team and five listed as honorable mentions.

Before getting to the All-District players there were two Ladycats that earned individual awards for their stellar performances during their district schedule. Chandley Tolbert and Taylor Smith were named the Offensive and Defensive player of the year respectively.

Tolbert was at the heart of the Ladycats’ offense aiding her team in racking up points early on during sets and helping extend leads late in sets. Smith on the other hand was a menace on defense patrolling the net and stopping most of the attacks the opposing team attempted.

This allowed Izzy Reeves, Janiyah Cooper and Madison Luckey to play loose on the court and allowed them to play a massive role in the Ladycats success this past season. The trio of Ladycats were so beneficial to their team that they were named to the 1st All-District team.

With three players on the 1st All-District team, it was just the tip of the iceberg for the Ladycats. Following their teammates Hannah Fisbeck and Lauren Hinze found themselves on the 2nd All-District team but there were still more Ladycats to be recognized.

Jaiya Cook, Chloe Grifaldo, Claire Pavlu, Ashley Treece and Delaney Turlington were listed as Honorable Mentions for the All-District team. With limited spots on the 1st and 2nd teams the Ladycats showcased their talent by having five players mentioned as some of the top players in the district.

Last but certainly not least is the players named to the Academic All-District team which means they maintained a 3.50 GPA while being one of the top players in the district. Being able to maintain grades while being a top athlete is one of the best awards out there because it shows just how bad these athletes want to be great.

Among those named were Hannah Fisbeck, Chloe Grifaldo, Lauren Hinze, Izzy Reeves, Taylor Smith, Chandley Tolbert and Delaney Tuington. All seven of these athletes were either Offensive or Defensive player of the year or named to one of the All-District teams all while taking care of business in the classroom.

Congratulations to the Ladycats on a fantastic season and congratulations to all the players that were named to the All-District team.
